The Alder Prize
What is the Alder Prize? The Alder Prize is an award for innovative ideas that have the potential to move the Nigeria nationstate forward. It was organised by Alder Consulting between 2005 and 2006 to spur public involvement in national progression.
Ideas were welcome from all fields, including Economics, the Sciences, Technology, Culture, the Arts, Humanities, Political Sciences and Engineering. The competition was open to all nationalities and age groups. It was judged by an expert panel of distinguished Nigerians.
Features
1. The cash award for 2006 was N0.5m (about $3,600.00 at the time).
2. The ideas remained the intellectual property of the originator, thus he/she maintained proprietary right to the idea.
3. Shortlisted and winning entries were published online and in other media.
A panel of esteemed professionals reviewed the shortlisted entries and selected the winner.
The winner of The Alder Prize (2006) was: Students’ Research Group (University of Benin, Edo State)

The Award Ceremony took place on Monday, 9th October, 2006, during Alder’s brand conference and seminar, mind the_gap 2006, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigeria.
