The reform of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) began with a spot survey of public perception of the Nigerian prison system. After a presentation of the results and the key issues confronting the system, the essence and focus of NPS were redefined to better mirror its conceptual mandate.
During sessions with the Reform Management Team of NPS, the vision, mission and core values were defined. The organogram was also redesigned to suit present imperatives and ineffective programmes were restructured. The organisational structure has been presented to the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) and implementation of the reform programme is ongoing. |
