Over the years, the educational sector had been plagued by daunting challenges, ranging from infrastructure degradation to enrolment and curriculum issues to union uprisings. In addition, the Ministry was a large unwieldy entity consisting of over 20 parastatals.
The Minister, a well known progressive and pragmatic reformer with a proven track record, needed to do something to arrest the decline, as a matter of urgency. Alder was consulted to assist the Ministry in crafting and executing a sustainable program for rejuvenating the educational sector in conjunction with other key resource persons. The program cut across the three tiers of the sector: primary, secondary and tertiary.
Strategy sessions were held with the Minister, key officials of the Ministry and other partners. Mission and vision statements and reform initiatives were developed. A strategy & policy document was also developed based on in-depth research of the issues plaguing the sector. Taking a panoramic view of the Nigerian educational sector, key issues and challenges were streamlined and proposals were made on the way forward. Presentations were made to key stakeholders and departments of the Ministry to generate buy-in.
Key brand and marketing elements have been developed to communicate the Ministry's new focus and internal impetus. The visual identity of the Ministry has also been redesigned.
The implementation of key aspects of the reform of the Ministry (and educational sector) is currently ongoing.
